96 Camry engine swap Problems to older engine

I have a 96 camry chassis. Swapping to 93 Camry engine. Problem here is 96 camry runs a crank sensor and the 93 engine does not. Instead of swapping out oil pump, is it possible to just swap out the engine computer?

You'd probably have to swap the entire wire harness as well, because there would be wires that the older engine, and computer would not have. So, the wire harnesses may not match. Another problem is that if it has to go in for an emissions check, it would have to be tested as a 96 model year which is OBDII. The 92-94 would be OBDI. So, it's not going to pass. Most engine swap regulations require the engine to be the same year or newer than the vehicle it will be installed into.

So the harness is different? I just assumed they were the same. Anyone done this before? Or is there a way to bypass the crank sensor? Emission isnt a problem here, we have no emissions test.

I'm curious, why would you assume that? No you can't "bypass" the crank sensor it is an essential part of the system.

My advise is to get an engine for that year/compatibility range and save yourself a whole lot of hassle.

Thanks for the input. I assumed they were the same since they were same generation. I'm a honda guy and most the harnesses are the same on honda's. If they werent, we just bypassed certain sensors. I guess Toyota's are different. I'll just do the oil pump swap and call it good.
