Broken shift cable

Hey guys, my shift cable broke today

stuck in 4th, stick has no resistance moving back/forward.

Now, exams coming up, so not going to be fixed until then. however, wanted to ask a few key questions:

a) is the cable change a DIY-able thing, and approximately how difficult/long?

b) any idea as to rough cost? I recall reading somewhere that it was ~$250 at the stealership, but I'm pretty sure it can be found for cheaper online...

No idea about the gen 3, but for the gen 4 it took me a while to get the old one out and the new ones in. There's a metal bracket that holds them in place, and without that off you can't do shit. I had to cut the carpet out to get to it. And the center console had to be removed. It would have been easier if the heater core and dashboard was out.

As for cost, check eBay. But they're expensive. I sold mine when I did my swap for $20. But they're like $200 on eBay haha.

3point0coupe is about to do a swap, maybe he'd sell you his old one unless he wants to keep it as a memento of his hard work!
