Every retrofit is different. Not everyone uses the same exact parts. Not everyone has the same tools, or "out-of-the-box" thinking/problem solving skills to do a good retrofit the 1st time out. You'll have to search for, and read through as many of those retrofit journals as you can, then just try it for yourself. That's what I did. You'll have to learn as you go. Take your time, go carefully, and slowly with every detail. It'll just take lots of time and patience.

i have been trying to find stuff on how to do it. but i cant find anything. maybe i am overlooking it all. ugh...i really wanna do it. but dont wanna screw anything up in the process. (these cost alot obviously) i dont kno how to fit the projectors, how to aim them, where to connect them, nothing. so i am very unknowledgeble when it comes to this stuff. but i want to do it.

If you don't know anything at all about doing it, then just pay $374 and get these 92-94 Camry HID compatible Projector Headlights that also include corner lamps, instead of spending so much time doing something you don't know about, and then ultimately end up screwing it.

http://depoautolights.com/toyota-cam...90e08d444f830f

After you get the Projector Headlights, carefully read this picture DIY (http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t128837.html) about how to remove a 92-94 Camry Headlight.

How can you possibly think you can do something that you have NO IDEA how to do it?

BigBird was one of the first people to buy the already retro-fitted headlights from depo. He likes them just fine. Just buy those unless you can read up on your stuff.

imho *<(looks like it says imahoe )*

read read and then read some more. get a spare set of oem headlights and retrofit projector onto those then you can get the depo clears and swap lenses if you are happy with your work...or ask somebody to do the retro for you.

+1

I think I can do brain surgery, I just don't know how. "You gotta learn to crawl, before you learn to walk." The skill to do a retrofit will not come to you magically, or in your sleep. Get the projectors, and shrouds from where ever, a set of gen3 headlights from a salvage yard, and START LEARNING.

Hey, as a mechanically happy n00b here, I can kinda see where he's coming from. After reading the articles that interested me on first 100 pages of threads (seriously, I have) to make sure I didn't get on everyone's bad side by asking a 'stupid' question I'm still unsure on the projector retrofit.

I didn't know the Depo line came with the projectors, and am still unsure on whether I need an HID kit with it, I thought they were just clear with a standard back for regular bulbs and needed hacking apart. I'm still not sure (because I've not checked mine) whether the Gen 3 came with a seperate high-beam bulb or what everyone else does for the high beams if retrofitting HID. I do understand that I need to use projector housings with ANY HID and that there are (or were) three junkyard types to pick from (although off the top of my head I can't remember which they are). I also know that I could clear my own but would need time/a million types of paper/something to stop them yellowing.

I'm not saying that people don't need to read the forums, I'm just saying it'd be nice to have a catch all - like the other awesome articles for things like the ATF flush. It's not always the n00b's fault...

Unless everyone uses the exact same parts, a standardized retrofit DIY is not possible. There are 3 types of projectors: low-beam, high-beam, and bi-xenon. The low-beams even have 2 classes: halogen, and xenon. For cars that have separate high-beams, the projectors are usually halogen.

Regardless of what type of projectors they are, every set will be different from another. Mounting points, length, width, height, overall size, lens diameter, lens type(clear or "frosted")all of that will be different depending on the projectors, and where they came from. Same story with shrouds. There are also "halos," or "angel eyes," or whatever you want to call them.

Now for bulbs, and ballasts. There are different bulbs for both halogen and xenon projectors. For halogens: 9003, 9004, 9006, 9007, 9008, H1, H4, H7, H11, H13, HIR, and so on. For xenons: D1S, D1R, D2S, D2R. You'll have to figure out what the projector uses to get the right bulb/ballast combo. Bi-xenons will require extra wiring, and perhaps relays. Then there's color temperatures.

Then you'll have to decide what you want, halogen low-beam projectors, and halogen non-projector high-beams...halogen low, and high-beam projectors...xenon low-beam, and halogen non-projector high-beam...bi-xenon, and DRLs...bi-xenon, and turn signals...dual bi-xenon...and so on...

There are also tons of sources for getting the parts.

Therefore, with the huge amount of possible combinations of parts, how can there one single DIY that can encompass all of the possibilities?

The best you'll get is a rough outline on what to do, but not an exact step-by-step, "I'll hold your hand" guide on how to do it. Take off the water wings, and dive into the deep end. The only way to figure out how to do it, is to just do it!

^says the man who got his retrofits done for him by Adam hehehe

retrofits = read read read
i find the Scion tC retrofit writeup really helpful.

tsx projectors are really popular due to the crisp cut off
i used E55s cuz i found a cheap seller and they are 3" ..nice and big
a lot of things you can learn just by looking at it....where the projector sits etc

here's a pic for motivational purposes
