Question Negative consequences from wrong valve clearances? 1MZ

Well, I hear it. The taping sound coming from rear valve cover when engine is running. The engine has 146 Kmiles on it and I never did the valve clearance adjustment. It is time to. But I can't do it right now, so gonna postpone this task for some time. So, the question is: are there any negative consequences from wrong valve clearances? For the engine, I mean, not for me.

Not so much. . . I bugs you mostly.

Just started, or was due for oil change, maybe you let a teenage son drive it??? << haha bad idea!

They can tick for a while and it won't really hurt the valve, lifter, or shim. Let me guess, its by the timing belt? Is it like REAL LOUD or just audible? I've got post on here about solving the tick. Mine was loud for while. A shim fixed it.

You should be able to do it in your sleep in a another couple weeks. . .

Who has Successfully Adjust Valve Lash 1MZ????

I'm guessing I posted that not long after registration in (reg in late 2005), post was 01-2006. I was just getting going on the ways of the yoda. .

It just audible, not that loud. I'll definitely will do the adjustment (along with timing belt/water pump/gaskets/seals/etc replacement), but first of all I need to make my wagon running

My car has the sound like lifter (taping) noise, too... A friend of my (machanic) told me, I need lifter fixed. I am not sure what he meant by that, so I hope someone can fill me in for miss information.

What I need to do in order to fix the tapping noise...

Where can I buy shim? Machine shop is the good place to buy or dealer? the shim is the round(circular) thing that shit under the valve cover?

I have 2000 Toyota Camry I4 at 150,000 miles
