Exclamation Brake Rotor Email Q & A

Note: email is mising pictures of side by side rotors.

I am NOT trying to upsell, advocate sales, or suggest anyone buy anything. I was curious about the quality of the product and asked a few questions. Here is the response.

Support Staff,
I support a local repair shop and have to find a new source for quality brake parts. I am interested in purchasing slotted rotors (maybe cross drilled rotors too) but want to know how they are manufactured. Can someone familiar with that process please give me an overview of the steps required to manufacture these rotors?

If your process involves cross drilling holes and grinding slots in the OEM style rotors, and no further processing is done, that would be import for me to know. Can you please give me some details?

Thank you,

Hello,
Here is the manufacturing procedures that are used to manufacture the rotors.

Double Disc Ground
Centric premium rotors feature a double disc ground, taper free finish. Double disc grinding ensures parallelism, eliminates run out and provides near perfect disc thickness variation (DTV). Double disc grinding leaves a non-directional finish on the friction surface area for more effective pad-rotor break in. This special finish also provides quieter and smoother stops.

Centric Premium

Machined Finishes
Centric premium rotors feature 100% fully machined finishes including rotor hats. This extra process provides better rotor balance and creates a cleaner, more finished looking component. In addition, Centric Premium rotors are inspected for balance and mill-corrected to a tolerance of less than 2oz. per inch

Centric Premium

Split Castings
Center-split core castings provide proper heat transfer and thermal efficiency, resulting in superior braking power and safety.

Centric Premium

Mill Balancing
Centric Premium brake rotors are mill balanced to a tolerance of less than 2oz. per inch. This additional machining operation reduces feedback associated with rotor vibration and provides a smooth confident application of braking force.

After we
receive the rotors we drill them at with our own CNC Machine and some we silver coat to prevent rust. Let us know if that is the information you where looking for.

Thanks for the quick reply! What I am curious about is if there are any stress relieving functions done to the drilled and slotted rotors as I have other brands which continue to crack. Are they heated and cooled after machining operations, are the cross drilled holes chamfered on the inside? What alloy are the premium rotors made from?

Can I put your product on and know I wont have to replace them due to stress cracks, warpage, ect if they are not abused?

Please advise.
Thank you!
