Injector flow rates for 3VZ, 1MZ (w/ some 2JZ, 1UZ, 3MZ)

All cc/min ratings @ 3 bar/43.5 psi

23250-62030 - Gray - 1992-1993 3VZ; all
Air assisted
240cc/min

23250-20010 - Cyan - 1994-1997 A/T 1MZ, 1997-2001 M/T 1MZ
Air assisted
245cc/min

23250-0A010 - Dark Blue - 1998+ A/T only 1MZ, CA spec/2001 50 state
Air assisted (slightly larger air assist hole)
250cc/min

23250-50030 - Pink - 98+ 1UZ/3UZ, A/T only
Air assisted
255cc/min

23250-20030 or 23250-0A020 - Pink - 03+ 3MZ, A/T only
No air assist; Denso fine 12 hole type injector; 50 micrometer fuel particles
255cc/min

23250-46050 - Lt Blue - 93-95 2JZ-GE, CA spec; 96-97 all
Air assisted
- (non CA-spec 93-95 2JZ injectors lack air assist; 23250-46030; 315cc/min)
310cc/min

23250-46090 - Teal - 1998 VVT-i 2JZ-GE
Air assisted
250cc/min

Resistance per the BGB: 13.4-14.2 Ohm @ 68 deg F

My 0A010's flow at 255cc/min after cleaning @ 43psi, or nearly 260cc/min @ 3 bar (43.5 psi). Hmm. Go CA injectors for once!

-----

Some of the original discussion from the MR2 Board (not MR2OC):

4v6: I wouldnt use an injector that dosent have that air shrouded design because it affects the spray pattern and atomisation characteristics.
Without it the spray ends up on the ports walls.

Jason.MZW20 (me): Except the new 12-hole designs like the 3MZ's (and any new Toyota engine). Unfortunately, these are hard to adapt for use since they are a different design.

The fine 12-hole injector successfully atomizes fuel better than the 2-hole air assisted injector, so Toyota no longer uses air assisted injectors.

I believe this was the injector type co-developed by Toyota, Denso, and Yamaha.

4v6: Thanks for that Jason ive not seen that 12 hole jobby before now - always the last to know (as usual)

JimKing: Continuing this air assisted vs. NOT air assisted question - Among V6 Camry/Solora TRD S/C users it is "common knowledge" that the 7MGE injectors (23250-70080, 315cc) are a good size upgrade for running more than 4psi of boost.

http://www.witchhunter.com/flowdatapix/d2325070080.jpg

Since these are not air-assisted, I would assume this is NOT GOOD INFORMATION? I was about to buy a cheap set of these for use later...

Thanks guys for any input!

[EDIT] Why would a non air-assisted injector used in a 1MZ cause fuel to "end up on port walls"? I would think there would only be a problem in the other direction, i.e. using an air-assisted injector on manifold lacking the air-assist. Wouldn't the 7MGE injector work as well in a 1MZ as in the 7MGE? Do air-assisted injectors just do a better job of atomization in general compared to older non assisted injectors like this 70080? In that case, then I presume a 46050 would be a better upgrade than a 70080 - if you want a ~310cc injector. Maybe marginally better mileage and emissions?

Jason.MZW20: Toyota does claim air assist helps prevent fuel from clinging to the port walls, improves emissions performance, and also idling and overall engine drivability.

Since the older 2-hole non-air assisted injectors lack the air hole just before the injector nozzle, what you'll see, generally, is decreased efficiency and increased emissions - mainly in hydrocarbons, as there will be more unburnt fuel from the larger atomized fuel particles. This is the main reason Toyota's CA emissions 93-95 2JZ-GE adopted an air-assist injector specifically where the non-CA emissions 2JZ-GE did not. The 7MGE injectors will have a spray pattern consistent with older style injectors with less atomization and air-fuel homogenization.

You have to remember that the air assist is actually engine driven air assist (which is why there is a metering device). So, the air going through the air assist hole collides with the fuel particles in the stream just before they reach the 2 holes in the nozzle. This furthers the atomization and mixture of air and fuel even before it is injected into the combustion chamber with the accompanying intake air flow, resulting in greater efficiency. I still don't fully understand the concept behind the reduction of port-wall wetting with these injectors, but maybe someone else can explain that.

Also, Denso's first 12 hole injector (released in 1999), reduced atomized fuel particles to 65 micrometers. They improved that in 2002 to 50 micrometers. I don't believe air assisted injectors achieve that level of performance.

Thanks for sharing! The tidbits in other places lead me to believe there was more infor to be had from you!!

You DELIVERED!

12-hole injector; no air assist
(possible direct replacement: 3MZ 12-hole injector - +20cc; there are other 12-hole high flow injectors for forced induction use as well)
Picture needed.

In addition to 23209-50030, the 98+ 1UZ-FE/3UZ-FE uses another set of air-assisted injectors that are insulated against noise. 23209-50050 are the noise insulated injectors.

I've got an opportunity to get some injectors cheap. They are from a 2001 Japan build Camry. The part numbers for the injector are 23250-20020, but the part number for my 2000 Camry LE is 23250-0A010. Both are 1MZ-FE.

I'm thinking they will work, because the part number for the US version of the 2001 Camry is 23250-0A010 which is the same part number as my car.

I wondering if anybody know for sure. I've searched and can't find any compatibility charts so I thought I'd see if any of you know for sure or can steer me in the right direction.

Thanks,

.

20020 is the Japanese produced variant of the CA spec injectors. 2001s w/ an AT will all have the CA spec injectors. MT 1MZs always had the fat cyan injectors or 20010.

The 20020s weren't affected by the single cylinder misfire TSB like the 0A010s.

Thanks very much for the info. I wanted to get the 20020 injectors send them off to be rebuilt, and then swap them out with the 0A010 installed in my 2000 LE since it's my daily driver and I would be out of commission while I sent off the ones in the car and waited for them to be returned.

Could you explain the part number mumbo jumbo? I went over to www.toyotapartszone.com and put in the part number 23250-20020 and got an invalid part number. In the illustration they show the injector as 23250 and I swear that the part number on the injector was 23250-20020.

But in the parts listing they show the part number as 23209-20020 and when that part number is entered, it comes back with the correct part but it says that it has been replaced by 22309-0A010

Here's the link:
http://www.toyotapartszone.com/oem/t...209-20020.html

I can't be 100% sure that my car has 23250-0A010 because I can't see the part number clearly and I don't want to go through the hassle of removing one of the injectors to physically check the part number.

I'd hate to spend the $200.00 to buy the 20020 injectors and have them re-built, only to find that I get CEL codes for my trouble.

What do you think.

Thanks,

Edit:
Here's a screenshot of what I was talking about:

Toyota uses 23209 now, but the injectors will say 23250.

So, it's 23209-20020 or 23209-0A010.

The Japanese versions are no longer produced, that's why they were superceded by 0A010.

OK then, I'll wait to find some direct replacements for my 0A010's.

But if you live in the Sacramento Calif area and need the 23250-20020 injectors, then head on out to the Antelope Pick N Pull go to Row 9, towards the back, on the right you will see a 2001 maroon Camry LE with a set of 6 fuel injectors in the glove compartment.

I know a guy that was nice enough to pull them. They were there as of yesterday, 8/10

Edit: PickNPull had a 1/2 off sale, so I got the injectors for myself, so they aren't there anymore.
