Suspension overhaul - Gabriel Readymount

Hey guys,
My 98 camry v6 has 206,000 miles on it now, and never any suspension work done I don't have it modified in any way, and I would like to return to an oem suspension feel. It rattles like crazy right now. I'm planning on going with the gabriel readymounts (like the quickstruts) all around. Through the end of May, gabriel is doing a 20% rebate, which brings them down in price to make them even more affordable than the monroes. I would be purchasing from Autozone most likely. I know that I will also need to replace some bushings and endlinks.

Has anyone used the Gabriel Readymounts on their Gen4 Camry? I'm interested in some feedback on them.

Thanks

Hi Betz

I just recently installed a set of quickstruts on my 97 V6, working really well. My problem now are some worn bushings of the trailing arms in the back a real headache to get.

But those work nice and you can do the work really easy.

I just put Monroe Quick Struts in my 97. I had a 20% off from Advanced auto. Monroe also had a $150 rebate. I have a 98 that I will put them in next. I would think the gabriel are fine. Autozone is good at honoring the warranty. The difference with the new struts is night and day. Ride is like new. No more noise. I also had to replace the sway bar bushings and rear end links. Not a big deal to do.

I do like Autozone's no non-sense return policy for their lifetime warrantied products. And no shipping required! ReadyMounts will give you more of an American ride. I think they're fine, but some may think it's a bit soft at lower speeds.

I personally don't care for Monroe's grooved piston rod design. But many here like the ride. KYB also has a ReadyMount like setup (check rockauto.com). Since KYB makes Toyota struts, this should give you the closest ride to OEM. But I don't care for the harsh ride that makes you feel every lane divider jolt. I think these are a joke, but YMMV.

Autozone's main line is Gabriel (Ultra). Pep Boys and O'Reilly's are Monroe (Sensatrac). All carry lifetime warranty for these top tier struts of Gabriel and Monroe. They have other grades for buyers of all budgets. But IIRC not the same lifetime warranty.
