Do the same with the negative and see which one or both of the wires are broke.
I've also heard of testing speakers by using a 9 volt battery. You should hear it pop when you hook it up.
I think your guess about the wire being shorted inside of the gasket in the door is the most likely culprit.

I just bought brand new speaker i was putting them in thats why i posted this cause they still dont work well driver side doesnt.
I tried doing this Putting my meter on OHMS n testing for n were the wire would be broke but no signs, just readed 1.
I tested the wired for power
the Stero is giving power if i hook the Speaker right up using alligator clips to the speaker it works fine.
As i think you are right about it being in the gasket now is it a easy fix? cause i think all the wires are wrapped in this stuff to make it impossible to get to.
or should i just have a mech. do it for me?

Yeh im guessing there cut somewhere but Its not at my kick panel or in the stero compartment rest of the wires are just covered so i cant see them rest cause they go into the driver door.
