4th Generation 5 speed swap CELs

Okay, so it has been quite a while. I have been driving the Camry very seldom, with almost year old expired plates. I am moving soon and need to plate this thing.

I have two 5 speed ECUs(part numbers from Toyota, ecus from Junkyards, junkyards have both times confirmed they are from a stick shift v6 99 camry) and am still throwing all solenoid and planetary gear codes.

Have any other fourth gen guys had any success with plug and play ECU = codes go bye bye? If so, will you please post what part number it is so I can attempt to find one? Oh, it has to be without immobilizer.

My Toyota tech friend suggested that I might need the 5 speed harness, but even at his price it is $450 and would have to come from Japan.

If anything I will do the resistor trick, but I cant find the original thread with the instructions on it. I see Jon's in the sticky, but I remember there being another one that goes more in depth.

Thanks.

I'll check to see if I can find my other ECU. If I can, you can have it for shipping. It's just been sitting around doing nothing anyway.

I don't remember much about the resistor thing. Are wire colors the same between gen 3 and 4? What kind of resistors do I need to get? I tried to search to find out what LED Load Resistors are, and didn't get much.

As you can tell I don't know much about electrical components, or electricity in general. I remember there was a good writeup with pictures somewhere, I tried searching for it to no avail. I can't remember where I found it.

I also can't find out or try anything right now because my whole front end(Getting rid of AC and ABS, painting bay to clean it up) is chilling next to my car at my friend's shop. But that is all coming back together soon and I would like to get the supplies ready to pass emissions!

Thanks.

thats where i bought mine

you only need 3 because i guess the 4th wire is ground but i resistored that to ground as well, from the ecu side i have no idea about the pin out or wire color i know the trans side it has it own connector kind of round in shape 4 pins (large connector tho for 4 pins) and should be loose dangling there since it has nothing to connect too.
