4th Generation Get a better receiver or replace factory speakers?

I just installed a new Dual XHD6425 receiver. It sounds slightly better than stock but it is not as good as I had hoped. Would replacing the factory speakers be an improvement? Or should I get a better receiver? The Dual only cost $100. I'm also hearing static from the speakers after installing the Dual. I think it's caused by the receiver's amp because the static gets louder when I step on the gas.

Are these Eclipse speakers any good? Are they much better than factory?

Get a better receiver. Duals are on the bottom end of receivers. A decent mid range units are Panasonic. A quality one will run about $150. If you want a quality unit, Alpine and Clarion are great. The OE speakers aren't that bad. Do you have the basic speaker system or the JBL sound system?

I think I have the 6-speaker system with the tweeters next to the side mirrors.

It's a pretty decent system, the 6-speaker that is. I have it. I have a Panasonic and I think it sounds great. But step one is definitely upgrade the Head Unit.

The factory speakers stink. Especially the rear ones don't have separate tweeters. The front cone tweeters aren't that good. Eclipse is made by Fujitsu-ten, and they also make factory speakers. It's like minor league trying to fake as major league.

I'd instead go with a professional audio company, like Alpine or Infinity (a brand of Harman-Kardon, which also makes JBL and Lexus's Mark Levinson). I think Harman went bankrupt a couple of times, so maybe that tells you something about their quality.

I'm not an expert in car audio, and I only listen to Bose Acoustimass at home.

I have a Kenwood Excelon HU, and Infinity Reference in the doors and Infinity Kappa's in the rear deck, and 2 12inch subs in the trunk, it isn't the boomyist car out there (nor do I want it to be) but it still has very good sound very clear highs and mids, with just the right amount of bass.
