Australia Replacing ECT Sensor

Hi

How do you replace the ECT sensor the one with 2 wire on the thermostat housing (bottom hose of radiator)
This is a RHD camry in OZ

Do you just use a deep 19mm socket? there's not much room down there...

Cheers

use deep 19mm socket with long extension to allow more free space to remove ECT sensor. this is just a reminder. Before you plan to remove ECT sensor, take your 19mm deep socket and insert on your new ECT sensor to see if it fit before you proceed (remove old ECT sensor).

Be careful remove the snap (2-wires that go into your old ECT sensor) without break it. you have to press in clip and hold while gently pull off.
you have to look and remember how your old ECT sensor position before you remove it. next, you install your new ECT to the same position. Pre-tight with your hands before use 19 mm deep socket.

just wondering why is the sensor position critical?

should I also count many threads are exposed to match it with the new one?

position is critical because you want the wire clip go in the same way as you remove your old ECT. you don't want the wire to give stress because over time heat and climate can wear out (break) the wire.

go www.camrystuff.com and download for your specific car year. I don't remember how many ft-lbs the ECT sensor require to re-tight. can someone provide ft-lbs re-tight ECT sensor for him?
