Many times any given region will have "special editions" that can't be found anywhere else in the world. Some dealers will do this to boost sales of that model in that region. Since Australia is famous for rallies, my guess is the dealer created that "special edition" to make it more appealing to rally fans. That's the only reason I can see for adding rally badges to a front wheel drive car, without much ground clearance.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. 2 very good examples of when it did work is the "California Special" Mustangs and the "Yenko" Camaros. However, those cars didn't just have special badges, they had real performance goodies add on.
