Question 1994 camry LE 4 Cyl keyless entry receiver location

I purchased a 1994 Toyota Camry LE 4Cyl a few days ago. It came with a keyless entry remote. The remote works but seems unreliable so I purchased a new one from keylessride. The problem is, I cannot find the receiver box anywhere in my car. I looked in all the obvious places - under the seats, behind driver side dash, in the driver side kick panel and passenger side kick panel. In the drive side kick panel, there is a toggle switch which can be turned on or off. I don't know what it is for. The remote works if the switch is turned on or off. There is that red led light by the mirror control switch which blinks when the car is armed with the remote. So to program my new remote, I need to find this receiver box.

Does any one have a clue where else I could look for it and what it looks like? I have searched the net to see if any one knows. Seems like its a secret no one wants to reveal or some thing ..

Any help is appreciated...

Chronoti,

Thanks for your direction. I did find the unit under the steering column. I don't think its factory installed. the remote I got would not work with it. The next task is for me to find the remote that works with this aftermarket alarm unit.
