2 questions

1) my car just passed 120,000 miles and the other day my check engine light came on. So i called my mechanic and I scheduled a time to get my car in (this Wednesday) 2 days later the light turned off. Can my mechanic still be able to tell what the light was for? (is there a history/log file that the car keeps?)

2) how do you guys wash your car without leaving water marks?! I've had a hell of a time the past 2 washes and I can't figure it out? Do you wash by sections or do the whole thing at once?

I wash mine in sections, but before i dry it off. I spray it one last time to make sure my car doesn't have dry spots before i go over it with my towel.

^ That's exactly what I do too. The best thing to dry it down with is a chamois leather (known as a "shammy")
