3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Got it a few months after my 1st Camry was wrecked. My cousin had almost the exact same Camry I had. Same year, color, engine, and transmission. The main differences were the gray leather, and moon-roof. She was moving back to Hawaii, and had to sell the car. When I had that accident, instead of advertising it in the papers, she sold it to me. So, kinda kept in the family. Plus, most of the custom parts that where on my 1st Camry are on this one. So, my 1st Camry lives on in a way.

When/Where/Mileage/How Much did you buy your camry for Thread
I bought my 96 I4 DX for around $3,000 from a car dealer in Ridgewood, NY in April 2008. It had approximately 173,000 miles on it. It wound up having a head gasket leak so I brought it back to the car dealer back and forth for a month. I would drop it off and take the train back home, then take the train back up when the car was "done". They wound up changing the valve cover gasket, oil pump gasket, then finally fixing the head gasket which eliminated the smoke coming from out of the exhaust. I've driven the car 60,000 miles in 2 years (last month was 2 years) and it's only had a few minor issues
I'm thinking about doing the water pump/timing belt, including getting the various leaking or seeping seals fixed.
