3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Looks like you have two things in question. The top photo "starts here" is warm water from the engine block which is circulated through the IAC valve right at the bottom of the T/B.
The next photo is the IAC air line to the intake manifold for the injectors (at or near galleys drilled and feeding air to the fuel injectors. I think!) Need a picture from just a bit farther away to see where it really goes.
looks like the manifold coolant bypass hoses. weird how you have a 2mz in north america.
anyways, its nothing critical. i would imagine the lines run to different but similar places between the different generations of manifolds, which it why the pre bent hose seems to go to nowhere.
Here's my 2 cents. I agree with 73sport that it is from the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) under the throttle body. But I think it's the vacuum line that goes to the intake manifold. It looks like somebody did a ghetto plug job on the hose and plugged it with a spark plug
I think the line goes here, you might want to check this and see if your engine looks like this. I'm betting that the place where the hose should go into the manifold is plugged as well with who knows what.
I agree with above. it looks like an Air Assist hose connecting IAC valve body with cylinder head, it's an air/vacuum line i think. that spark plug on end killed me LMAO
wondering why someone did it. maybe IAC is wrong model and there is nothing to connect to on engine head end ? or maybe there is a nice plug over there too (another spark plug? LOL, couldn't resist)
check how many hoses starts from IAC, if there is just 2 and one is blocked then it has to be coolant bypass disconnected and blocked. if 3 hoses start from IAC then it's most likely the air hose for injectors (nothing critical).
i think your intake manifold and throttle body might be a California emission 1mz-fe with air assist port & tube (federal version didn't have it) while your engine doesn't have it, so it might be reason why it was plugged (engine has no port for it).
