USA Plzz Help!! my car's speedometer is going crazy!!

Hello,
I have a 1998 Toyata camry( 115K miles) which i got around 6 months ago. Car's speedometer stopped working since last month. But the main problem is when I take it on the freeway speedometer starts moving and rpm goes boomm and car almost does not move. This hapens only when i go on a freeway. I went to a car repair person and he told me that it may be because of speedometer sensor, but if the sensor is not working thn why does it moves on freeway. I donno what to do Plzz give me soe suggestions. I don't know much about the technical stuff. Is it a transmission problem??
Thank you in advance for your help.

more or less you need to replace the speed sensor, because it cant shift to the correct gear because it doesn't sense the speed to go in to od or lock the tq convertor

over drive and the torque converter lock-up, so you dont have 4th gear nor is it fully engaging 3rd
