Balance shaft may have just killed my camry

Well.... as said before when i removed the balance shaft it was because it was screwed up and putting metal dust inside my motor so anyways i flushed the engine and hoped for the best and then today very loud CLUK CLUK CLUK CLUK!!!!!!!!! and its coming from under the valve cover. Its while i'm driving and boy did it no want to go anywhere it did however make it home and when i opened the hood the manifold was glowing and it smelled like a machine shop (hot metals) and if i tryed to start the car it would not idle just die. I checked the timing again its fine as i figured it would. But when i left it for about 2 hrs i started it again and it fired right up and is idleing fine, and there is no loud CLUK CLUK CLUK until i push the throttle but i dont even get over 1k rpms before it starts. So question..... is there anything else it could be cause im 99.9% on threw a rod

OK - that stuff up there says something went way wrong! When the timing gets way retarded, they burn the gas in the exhaust and shit glows! Is there anyway you can get a vacuum leak at speed, like broken motor mount opening up a hose or something that you won't see at idle?

Either timing or un-metered air makes it run like that to make parts glow. You need to solve that. Did the clunk go away when cool off?

I'd change the oil as it just got cooked pretty good and cut open the filter. Maybe the noise was heat related and nothing is mechanically wrong.

We'll cross our fingers. . .

You might post anything relevant from the past into this thread. . .

Well i got the car in 2008 motor is a rebuild it has about 80k on it now. I did a manual swap last year car has run great until about a month ago. Major oil stains on the ground and Timing belt was slapping the cover. So i did timing belt, water pump, cam & crank seal, an oil pump. While doing that i noticed balance shaft was bad so i removed it tapped the oil passage, did a engine flush and threw it back together. It wouldnt start so i posted a thread asking for help. Somone said recheck timing an sure enough it jumped 5 teeth. So i reset that and car ran fine for about two days. Then it started making this noise that sounded like the timing belt was hiiting the cover. It wasnt very loud. So i drove to work thinking it'll be okay and on the way home it got 100 times louder and now is sitting in the drive way.

So the car starts.

If the engines cold it will idle properly.

Once it warms up it just dies after foot leaves the throttle.

While its running it makes a very rapid clunk noise. (sounds like taking a hammer an rapidly smacking the valve cover.

But, if its cold and you start it while it is only at idle there is no noise until you give it some throttle.
Then comes the hammer noise.

What i've checked up to this point:

Checked timing it is fine, belt is tight.
Pulled the spark plugs, no sign of detonation or chipping or anything unusual.
Checked the codes nothing shows up aside from bad EGR code which has been on for some time now.

And i'm about to go rip the oil-filter off and gut it..
