3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I finally got the chance to drive my car at a track! Every Tuesday they hold a Time Attack event. Usually you get 3 runs with 3 laps each (1 warm up lap, 1 timed lap, 1 cool down) running with 4 other cars spaced 10 seconds apart, but this time we only got 2 runs. It was probably because of this one Miata that went off the track and also the track lights weren't working that day once it was getting dark. I originally thought the track was very small, as it's used for go-karts, but when I saw it in person, it was a decent size. Last week, it was funny because these 2 groups of guys were staring at my car and walking around it. Not sure if they thought it was nice or bad (probably bad)...And this past night this one dude asked me if I was gonna run it and I said yup. He probably thought I was idiot tracking my Camry lol. At least I was quicker than a Prowler though. Anyways, it was pretty fun but I wish I had a better setup. Since it was my first time, I was running conservatively (early braking and my lines were a bit sloppy I suppose). Here's a video and some pics from last night. Oh, and last week there was a guy running an F430 Scuderia. Pics and vids of that can be uploaded upon request lol. Here's my current setup:
Eibach springs/KYB GR-2 struts
TRD Front Strut Bar
TRD Rear Sway Bar (Track setting)
Kumho AST's 225/40/18 with 40 PSI all around
18x7.5 +38 Wheels
Removed Spare only and half tank of gas
Temperature was about 60° F
It's called Adams Track in Riverside. I can look up the address if you want. It's $20 to run and $5 for a helmet rental (required). If you spectate, $3 per person.
I think I'll try some other tracks and/or autocross events too. There's Streets of Willow, Buttonwillow, and autocross events held at El Torro airbase in Irvine.
i would love to run my car at least once with my GC/tokico setup before the shocks go or before i sell it. just too lazy to actually look for the events and kinda am afraid to break something
good to see you didnt do so bad for a slow car. horsepower wise i mean

From what I gathered, it's $20 for 3 runs. Each run is 3 laps(warm-up, timed, cool down). If that's the case, $20 to run + $5 for the helmet isn't bad at all.
