3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
There aren't laws against it. Look at those lifted trucks! Maybe you don't have those, but they're everywhere here. Those southern boys like their mud haha.
I don't know why you'd wanna put one on a camry, but it could be pretty intimidating.

I would just like to know if it can be done fairly inexpensively. Getting something custom made will probably cost too much. It would be nice to find some sort of "universal" type. Or maybe one that can be easily modified to fit various vehicles.
I just think it could come in handy. =)

yes it definatly can be done and cheaply. why on earth youd want that...meeh, not sure id wanna know the anwser. all you would need is to find someone to weld and some junk tubing. then just use a recip saw or band saw and cut your tubes.
im going to bet that most high population states would not look highly on making a car less safe (for you neither), but i know some states liek SC have so few auto laws...people drive around at night with no muffler, doors, bumpers, hood, lights....hell mabey even seats.

Do any states have laws about doors? Think of UPS trucks.
I'm thinking more of a bumper guard that looks "nice." Therefore, something custom made to look nice is going to cost A LOT. This would likely have to be something already on the market. I tried to look some up tonight, but none of them appeared to be compatible with a Camry.
So, anyone who has ever looked into this and maybe found a solution, please post.

They are generally made only for vehicles that have a full frame. They are called push bars, and are meant for pushing things (or supporting winches), so they need the support of a full frame to not do damage to the vehicle when it's used.

So that's basically a thumb down on the whole idea aye.

ALL states have laws about doors dude. UPS trucks have doors, they cant be on major highways with them open and can only drive a certain speed open, same with UPSP trucks, same with FEDEX.
are you going for a police cruiser look? if you are gonna look for a bumper guard then look into small truck guards, hell maby a tacoma one might fit.
Why are a ((POS)^3 Chrysler 300) and some awesome Scoobie blocking that awesome blue Explorer?
Corrected But yeah, that would look.... off, I guess is the word for it. I mean like somebody else said, I don't really know why you would want to have this on a daily driver/grocery getter. I mean in theory it works, but in reality, not so much.
Bigbird, you think SC has loose laws, MI is the "Motor Capital of the World" and yet we don't even have mandatory yearly state inspections I mean, I see so much rust on wheels here it's kinda sad...

We don't have inspections in Oklahoma either (anymore).
Be glad though, I've never seen anyone say they were GLAD their state has inspections.
