Timing belt changed... very little power

I have had the timing belt replaced and now I have NO power. My Camry used to be quite peppy and now I can't even climb a hill..

I have verified the timing with a timing light. I have replaced my spark plugs, my fuel filter.. I'm at a loss.

I originally replaced the timing belt myself since it broke while I was driving it. After I replaced it, it didn't run right and I think I had it 180 degrees off. I took it to a shop and they did it again. It runs decently at idle, etc, but I have no power when I need it. My gas milage has also dropped from 28-29 to 22 - 23.

The belt probably skipped a tooth. I don't know if the timing is keyed on crank or cam. But if on crank then the timing light won't help, because it'll be accurate while the cam is off.

The only way now: remove the top timing cover. Rotate the crank to TDC. Verify the cam mark lines up with the mark on the back cover.

that doesn't make sense

What is boggling is that I have good compression and it starts and idles perfectly.. If I was off a tooth, I would have bad compression since my valves would be open at the wrong times... plus that usually leads to overheating...

Not sure one tooth is going to do that. It's like what, 5 deg? Dunno.

One way to make sure -- lineup the crank and cam marks.
