1998 camry starting issue 2.2L

I have a 2.2L 1998 Camry LE that just hit 150k miles, I had absolutely NO problems what so ever with the car, but occasionally about 3/10 times I try to start the car the idle drops and the engine stalls, if I tap the gas once the car will run all day without a problem.

Any ideas on what the issue could be? would like to try to figure things out just incase it gets worse.

I had to replace my distributor about then (1995 LE 4cyl). Don't know if that's the cause of your problem but there are test procedures in factory service manual (FSM).

When was your last tune up? Have you ever replaced ignition wires, rotor, distributor cap?

Sounds like the IAC valve is stuck. Try cleaning the throttle body: How to: Cleaning Throttle Body -4 Cylinder Engines- With Pictures
