3rd Generation 5 spd tranny problems 3vz

has anyone had problems with their 5 spd (3vz-fe) 1992
  • clutch peddal it half way and won't come up all the way.
  • very hard going into first at standstill and or trying at 40km to slow down
  • gear grinds when going into reverse
  • at high speeds after shifting clutch pedal still stays half way
I've bled the clutch and there's a new master cylinder installed on it when i bought the car.

clutch kit ? perhaps

Did you bleed the clutch at both bleeders, starting with the one closest to the MC? Did you bleed the MC or was it after it was replaced?

Also, how old is the fluid? It absorbs moisture easily and after a few years could break down.

make sure you bleed it properly
check for leaks
check your slave cylinder as well, if beat up, replace it.

you are not supposed to be using 1st gear to engine brake EVER!
As long as you are moving above 10mph...it should be difficult to downshift to 1st...unless you slam it in..but that's just bad for the transmission. you are supposed to use 1st gear just to get the car moving.

sounds like the clutch is not fully disengadging/ returning.
My guess would be that one or more of the pressure plate springs/fins has failed. what leads me to believe this is the clutch pedal not returning all the way......
Pushing on the clutch pedal pushes on the pressure plate springs which releases pressure on the clutch disk. When you let off the clutch the springs push back on the throw out bearing, which pushes on the clutch fork, which pushes the salve cylinder back in, which cause the clutch pedal to return.
Also what EEngineer said is more likely the case.
Hope that's not to confusing lol
