Ok I have been place to place being told a bunch of stories but my cousin pointed out to me my intake hose was cracked arround the throttle body so i decided ok look for intake hoses no knowing i had cali emisions but anyways the question is would a cracked air intake hose cause the check engine light to come on by messing with snesors?

well when my intake hose cracked...it completely cracked all the way off. and my car started to sputter and was idleing at about300-400, like it was gonna die. i just duct-taped it all around it so it touched the throttle body and the hose.WORKED GREAT...and still does.lol. i am doing a 100% custom cold air intake soon though...so that is y i am not buting a new hose at this point. but in regards to ur queation about the engine light, i cant remember if mine came or not.

6-banger, may or may not throw a code (depends on the amount of air leakage) but with intake air bypassing the airflow meter it's not going to run well.
If it allows unmetered air to the engine, so yes it will create a CEL!
Sometimes you won't even see the crack as it looks fine at rest. During high loads like accelerating, the engine torque moves the trhottle body from rest and strains the hoses creating cracks.
In short if you can flex it to a point of it opening up a crack, your engine is getting unmetered air and will likely spit out a code. Under full throttle loads a crack opening up could make a real lean condition causing all kinds of other problems.

Agreed, unmetered air is bad. However, on the 5S-FE, the "metering" is via the MAP sensor, which is downstream of the throttle, so air entering via a cracked (or missing) intake hose is still metered. The 1MZ-FE uses the ol' airflow meter upstream of the throttle, so a cracked intake hose is bad mojo. OP didn't say what he was running in his rig.

No worries on my part, good that you clarify. . . Guess I need an I4 Cami to stay in the game haha!
Secondary to such a hole is the dirt factor> dirt + oil + Fuel = BAD! Everything sticks and plugs and you'z got more problems!

lets put it this way it goes from top of throttle body down to the bottom facing the fire wall and it is noticable and b4 i ghetto rigged it thats all you heard and i couldn't figure it out till my cusin showed me also going to be buying one of them code reader things here in de no tax and 50 percent off lmfao
and like i said it is right under the clamp to hold on the throttle body and it a 4banger and the codes were from the cat and a iat but like i said earlier the cat is 5yrs they don't go that quick and i don't know what the hell a iat is
