Resistance of Daytime running Light Resistor

Hello,

Does anyone know what resistance the Daytime Running Light Resistor should be for a 1997 Camry? (Canadian Model)

I did a search on the website here and was unable to find anything. Both my Haynes Manual and the online ones here did not state the value which it should be at.

Thanks

Don't think I've ever seen it listed (the EWD just shows a resistor...no value). Given typical low-beam "hot" resistance, a SWAG would be around 3/4 -1 ohm, with a power rating around 50-100 watts.

If you do a search http://search.digikey.com for "wire wound resistor", and pick "lug mount" with the ohms prolly .8 ohms to 1 ohm you find them for 6 to $10 bucks. Thats gotta be way cheaper if you can make them work.

Oh - select "chassis mount", with 100W rating per bulb and they won't burn out again. Well assuming I understand your intentions which I don't. . .

I checked those online manuals thoroughly, and did not find it anywhere.

I'm trying to track down a short in my vehicle, and was reading low resistance for that resistor. The values of 0.75-1 ohm was what I was getting, but it seemed a bit low, and I wanted to verify what it should be.

Wasn't sure what you were trying to do, figuring soemtimes those burn out.

Is it blowing fuses (short) or not lighting (open). All, i can say is get the closest thing to the correct wiring diagram and take small steps to pin point and hopefully isolate the short/open. Loose or bad connections usually make heat so you may be able to feel it. Beyond that excersize the connectors a couple times and see if anything changes. While apart, look at the contact to confirm not burned or corroded.

Was it ever wrecked? Sometimes heating/welding on unibody can lead to latent failures as the repair itself could have been better - so look in areas that may be suspect for damage. Also, how about spills under the hood. Any evidence of battery failure whereby acid may have attacked connectors?

Need more info to be of help.
