Thanks Fenixus.
That explains a lot. I was poking around for his posts and couldn't find any. Tried to PM him but it said he wasn't accepting any PMs. Sometimes the written word is a lot harder to communicate than the spoken word so I wouldn't be too hard on him. I'll often type something that I could have worded better if I was speaking to them.
To summarize where I was with this problem..........
2000 Camry I4.
My P0420 has stayed away. The upstream O2 sensor was replaced just prior to my buying it. I replaced the downstream O2 sensor first but the 0420 remained. Replaced the front cat and it stayed away. I was getting pending 0420s but none that set the light. My guess is that many cars have been running around with pending 0420s since new but nobody would have a reason to scan until it's a hard failure and it sets the light.
The front pipe's rear flange broke so I installed a new pipe that I bought by mistake for the original 0420. Got it from Discount Converter
http://www.discountconverter.com/ $418.00 free shipping. Dealer wants $1184.00
Seems to work well and looked a like a quality part.
I may plug this into its own thread so people can find it....may help someone down the road.
Thanks for all the help guys.
