3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Okay, as you all know I did a retrofit on my 96 Camry where I sanded down the headlights. It came out pretty well, and the angel eyes made me happy However, its been a few months and the angel eyes LEDs have gone out. The cutoff has become crummier because the lens are starting to yellow.
SO, I've decided finally to get DEPOs and retrofit my current projectors into them. I will be doing a new set of angel eyes with better quality rods as well as LEDs. This time I'll be wiring it to the ignition wire so it doesn't blink often so it won't go out so quickly. I will also be doing a QUAD projector setup. The high beam projectors have still yet to be determined but will be nothing fancy, as a nice cutoff is not needed.
So here's to taking the plunge I'm hoping I will finally be totally satisfied and pleased wit the result so I stop trying to tinker with the headlights to make them look better
You can keep them wired to the parking lights just make sure you use a resistor with the leds if your gonna wire em separately like you did before make sure you have a resistor on each positive leg im convinced thats why they burned out like they did. leds are famous for how long they last, how little power they consume, and how kick ass they are lol. As far as resistors go if you are going to wire the leds separately like you did before lets say you use a 3.6v 20mA led you would need (420 ohms 1/4watt) if its 3.6v 25mA you would need (336ohms 1/4watt) your not gonna find the exact ohm resistor so you gotta find the closest thing to that number higher up will make them last longer compared to if you went lower. Heres the website i used to find this out see for yourself lol http://ledcalc.com/
Tonight I purchased a set of Morimoto H1 Bixenon Projectors which means one thing:
QUAD projector setup coming up!
With 4 Gatling Gun shrouds.. sure to look sick! Planning to get it done the first week of July.
70w each side of HID is sure to be a nice retro in the end

^^
Although this is not the case here, It seems LED's that are manufactured to support 12vdc direct (built in resistor) never last as long as LED's having an external resistor.
If his weren't designed for 12vdc its amazing they lasted 6hours! No wonder they were retina burners!

It's amazing how it doesnt cost $800 when you do it yourself.
