Well, with all of the road trips with the AC on comming up this Spring/Summer I decided that it was time to ditch my 6-year old Interstate Battery! I had Firestone install a new Interstate MTP-24F 800 CCA's compared to my old one with 500 CCA's With a $20.00 off coupon for this month it was $ 111.89 Installed! I think I got a great deal for piece of mind!...

How big is the piece of mind you have?
Kinda expensive for a battery, IMO.

Yeahhhhhhh I tend to spend more like $75 on a battery. But hey. Everyone likes what the like. If that makes sense.

battery is aout $75 w/ installation at a stealership
Yeah, but it is not an Interstate Battery that lasts for a very long time!.....The last one was 6 years old, I changed it for piece of mind with my road trips comming up this summer!.....You get what you pay for!....
Interstate is one of the many Johnson Controls brands. I agree that JCI makes excellent batteries. At least some batches Toyota buys are JCI.
Looks like you got a fairly powerful MTP-24F battery, with 1000 CA, 800CCA, and unknown reserve capacity (not listed).
Just for comparison. The slightly less powerful ones they make for Autozone (24F-DGL, $89.99) have 935 CA, 750 CCA, and 130 minutes reserve. These have an 8-year prorated warranty, with a 3-year replacement warranty.
The next step down, 24F-DL, $79.99, has 750 CA, 600 CCA, and 110 RC. With a 7-year prorated warranty and 2-year replacement warranty.
Plus tax and tip. I think $112 for a chain repair shop is in the "ball park". IMO it's worth what you paid for.

I had Interstate battery in (looked smaller than stock, with foam bars holding it under mounting arm) when i bought the car 4 years ago.
switched it to Duralast Gold (with 5yr warranty/3yr replacement) shortly after and it's fine even with HIDs, not sure what model it is (total was like $106 with tax), never checked hehe ... have no idea about parameters.

$112 for a good battery, installed, is not expensive in my opinion. Would *I* have paid someone to install it? No. But who am I to judge. I think the Duralast I bought from AutoZone was $70-80. If Interstate Batteries are better, plus a small installation charge... 112 sounds about right.

I have an Interstate battery in my Camry, too. But get this, it's nearly 8 years old. I had it tested at Advance Auto and it still tested as good. But given its age, I'm still going to replace it before next winter. I have one of the Advance Auto batteries in my truck, but it tested bad, it's around 4 1/2 years old, though...still haven't replaced it yet, lol.

can i have your old battery? i dont understand replacing a battery before it dies, but kudos on having peace of mind. i would rather invest that money in a nice set of jumper cables and keep them in the trunk for when the battery goes. plus its great to help others in need of a jump.

After 6 years I felt as if I was on borrowed time! Have alot of trips planned this summer with the ac on, which is a drain in itself! I do not want to be stuck a gazzilion miles away from home with a bum battery!!! I might even be going to Niagra Falls, Canadian side this summer also!....

I try to take good care of my batteries, but at the first sign of trouble they get replaced (after I check that it's not something simple like my wiring). Having to depend on a jump can be a real pain.
I agree, though, that a nice set of jumper cables is necessary. I've got a 20-ft, 4ga set in the Previa. Hopefully, I'll only need it to give jumps, rather than receive them.

That is getting up there for a battery, especially if you have very hot summers and very cold winters.

Other considerations would be to service the AC and cooling system if you haven't done so recently.
The air conditioning system still has a large electrical drain (from the magnetic clutch and stuff like that), and I notice in the Previa the idle drops and the system voltage goes down at idle-- this means the alternator isn't keeping up as well and the ignition and whatnot starts pulling off the battery.
But, yes-- definitely get the cooling system and the A/C checked.
