3rd Generation Is the door lock cylinder universal?

My driver side door lock cylinder is break. Someone try to break in to my car and failed. Now I have to use the other side to open the door. I'm planning to replace it myself and wonder where I can get the door cylinder. Is it universal or I have to get exactly the same model? Thanks!

PS: It's 92 camery 2.2

You have to get a new cylinder from the dealer.

As I know it, the passanger side is not serviceable and is different from the drivers side as in it holds a higher standard (more tumblers??). Something about it being the master. Thus, if you have keys made from old keys, make sure they work smoothly in the passenger door 1st! Then check the drivers door, ignition and finally the trunk.

The point being a worn out copy may work everywhere but the passenger door.

To your point, if you can find a drivers door lock, I think it can be re-keyed. But check with your local locksmith or buy a new one from yota as said above.
