Lost Engine Power

I was driving down the highway in my 1996 2.2 liter camry when the engine lost power, then the power came back, then lost power again and now wont start. Check engine light came on and codes are P0105: Map/Baro Circuit Malfunction and P0340: Cam Position Sensor A - Bank 1 Circuit Malfunction. At first I thought it was the timing belt but now im not sure. When you crank it over it doesnt sound like the belt is broken. At a loss at the moment. 122K

When you say lost power, you lost all vehicle electrical, or lost engine power? The codes you have could be just random depending on if you have an intermittent electrical failure. First thing I would do is check the EFI fuse, look around for bad grounds, if those seem good check for spark. It's easy to check for spark if you have a timing light, if you don't then pull a plug wire and rig it up close to a ground point, and have someone crank the engine while you watch. (works much better if it's dark)

Whatever you do, don't get anywhere near the spark when the engine is cranking, that voltage hurts like a bugger!

Check the belt. Sounds like it slipped.

based upon the limited information it sounds like the t/belt. Do a compression test. It could still have spark if it jumped a tooth so a compression test will tell you more about the timing of the cam & crank.
