Unhappy '98 4cyl EGR Valve - Bolt Removal Help!

Tips, tricks on getting the 2nd bolt off the EGR valve? I keep seeing PB Blaster...anything else? I've bruised, banged, cut and nearly killed myself trying to get the bolt loose, to no avail.

The first bolt came off fairly easy, but is obviously a little on the rusted side, so I'm thinking the 2nd one is probably both a little rusted and in just a ridiculously hard-to-reach place....nearly impossible to get good leverage on it.

Using a 10mm socket wrench...have tried an adapter and extender, and still can't seem to get it to budge. Any tips will be helpful. Looks like I'll be running to the auto parts store again tomorrow.

Been there, done that. Not fun at all. I ended up using Craftsman Bolt-Out to remove whole stud:

If your bolt is the rear one (like mine was), I recommend to unbolt the top bolt of the holder (stay) that connects air intake plenum and engine block and just shift it a little bit to give you more space.

Before installing new bolt/stud - put anti-seize compound on it.

I know its tight spot but heat (propane torch), Shock (hammer), and more time and more lube are the things that will get it free.

Did you try to tighten it just a little to get it break free?

To protect the nut, put yout wrench over it and hit it with an extension of some kind to shock it.

Good luck
