I've gotten some compliments about my car on occasions, and it always feels good
Before I drove to Toronto last Saturday afternoon, I was at (another) car meet in Sterling Heights. I had my car backed into a spot next to a crap/rust bucket '96 Accord and a stock 350Z. A group of guys walked by and completely ignored the 350Z and started talking with me about my car Kinda funny and humiliating for the 350Z guy

I think that I'll probably get a lot less comments about the Camry than I did about the AW11 MR2 I had. But even thoguh I'm still a few days away from picking it up some comments that I've gotten from the others that work at the Toyota dealership I'm at are:
'oh man! The nineties were the best year for the Camry, wish I had one of those instead of my Accord!'
'It's got 86,000 km's. That means you've still got at least 2 Domestic car lifetime's worth of km's left!'
'Isn't that the same model as the one on the lot with 700,000 km's we use to advertise?'
So overall I'm feeling better and better about this car. Oh, and at Lethbridge Toyota where I work, we definitely buy high mileage cars at crazy prices to advertise. We've got a 96 Camry with 698,000 a 98 Camry with 998,000 and an older corolla with 999,700.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm getting a lot of comments on the reliability of the car, and that's just fine with me!
Heh, I was about to fear I had thread-jacked, but since it's your thread...
I had a 1985 MR2 I had picked up with 170,000 km's on it. 800 Dollars Canadian. It was an AWESOME little car, I scored some lightweight rims and put KYBGR2 struts on it and the car was on rails. I put a lot of time into the car trying to get it up to par and I have to say I LOVED every moment of driving it. If you ever get the chance to drive or ride in one of those little AW11's its an amazing experience.
Unfortunately the car had been abused by it's previous owners and so the body was in really rough shape and I had an exhaust leak that was going to become a problem and a laundry list of things much longer then my wallet was thick and so when the opportunity to purchase my Camry came up I put it up for sale to help pay for it.
Final $$$'s and cents were: Purchase 800, about 800 invested, sold for 1300. So for the year I had it I paid about 300 bucks which was an awesome trade!!! Some day I'd like to find another one, and by then I'll be quite familiar with the 1mz-FE engine which is THE swap to do in terms of boosting power.
Anyway a few pictures in memory of what is the BEST model of MR2 in my opinion!
I enjoy complements just as much as you guys but what I like best is driving next to a normal camry. At first they don't really notice but when they do I see the look on their face. Its usually something like "Damn! why can't my car look like his?!" I see a lot of double takes when I drive by other camrys too.

this MR2 somehow reminds me the looks of my very old red ford probe (headlights most likely) no offense
of course yours must have been in great shape since you still had it not that long ago. it looks very clean and in good shape still in those pics
this MR2 actually is a very nice ride still looking great.
my old '90 ford probe was junk, bought it for $300 from some crack head haha. it had damaged engine (burning oil like crazy, 1qt per tank) and transmission broken (no 1st and 4th gear), drove it through summer in Wisconsin (summer job in Dells) then sold it for like $150 before Winter. old story, never mind
