Testing Motor Mounts

Hi everyone,
I have a 1998 Camry i4 with an auto transmission with 150k mi.
In the last two years, the car has broken 3 flex pipes, so I was thinking that worn motor mounts might be causing the flex pipes to break.

How do you check the motor mounts for wear? I measured how much the motor moves when shifting between reverse and drive. The motor moves about 1cm (3/8 inches). Is that too much?

Thanks, Alex

yup moving too much larger movement to the front when in going in to drive would be the rear mount and going in to reverse is the front. the dog bone mount is a visual as is the trans. the strut looking one is most likely bad as well
