I found some tires/rims for sale and was wondering if these will fit on my Gen 3.5... 215 55 R17. Thanks.

I believe, according to tirerack.com, the offset is 40 or 42 mm. These are the specs for the 2004 Solara on tirerack.com

And according to tirerack, the offsets are the same for both the 2004 Solara and my 1996 Camry.

A 55 profile is going to be a BIGGG sidewall with a 17" wheel. I ran 45's with a H&R/Tokico drop and it was close. I vote form you to mock up the measurements with cardboard or paper. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Yes they fit fine on a 96, even with an H&R sport spring drop! Proof below!

Not at all!

Yes they are, 215/55/17's Their my winter Rims.

Now these!! 225/45/18 45 offset, TRD's (wider tire close to the same height) Summer Rims.

I run a 5mm spacer, and rolled rear fenders to stop the slight rubbing I experenced when hitting dips in the road.

You run a spacer and rolled fenders for the 18" rims you have? So I'll be fine with the 215 55 17's...
