Need help disabling door ajar light on dash

To recap, still haven't got the doors fixed after that accident in January. Anyhow...I had it all worked out when I was able to close the passenger door (which seems to be causing it). The light never came on

However, passengers kept forgetting that you cant get out from that side and would open the door just enough to make the light come on. so now, the door light wont come off at all now even when I press the passenger side button. Its been like this for 2 or 3 months now.

How do I bypass?

That should work. The bolt grounds the circuit to the frame. Just lift up the rubber from the bottom of the switch to expose the bolt. The bolt should be a 10MM hex head.

thanks for the thorough reply LOL. I was attempting to remove the rubber thing prior to this put it wouldn't budge. Guess I dont need to worry about breaking it now

Ok...I know thats great advice but I have no idea what you are meaning LOL. where does the period go?

Anyhow, I removed the bolt...the light went off. WhoooHooo!

But then, it came back on again I dont know if maybe its the driver's side door thats also acting up as well. Should I just snip the wire on the damaged side? Or should I remove driver's side door bolt as well (which is undamaged, but it has malfunctioned in the past by not lighting the door ajar lights)

These generation 3 switches have problems with rust forming on the backside. If you see rust back there I would take a wire brush to the back side of the switch and the spring back there. Clean up all the rust. Also clean up the bolt threads and the bolt hole. Then put some dielectric gresse over everthing back there to prevent it from rusting again so quickly. Then reinsert the bolt and the system may work like normal again. I would do this to both front door switches. Total time should be about 15-20 minutes to do this.

Well...there's a white plastic backing on the metal piece that holds the button. I coudln't get it off and one of them had snapped when I was trying to remove it.
