3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
It is my understanding that with superchargers, you pretty much just bolt them on and you are good to go with moderate power gains vs. turbo charging which requires a lot of upgrades and a piggyback ecu. I figure if this is just "plug and play" it might be worthwhile looking into for some moderate power gains considering my lack of automotive training. What say ye?

You need to consider where everything will bolt up, what pulley/belt you are going drive it with.
With the extra air, you will need more fuel. You will have to figure out how much fuel, and how it will be delivered.
Inercooling is always good for forced induction, but I guess if you keep the boost down, you might slide by.

That's the thing about it. I really have no experience when it comes to boost. I just figured that it would be way easier to go supercharge the 5SFE then it would to turbo it. I really have no clue what else it is that I would be needing for this project. Any advice and help would be great. I mean what limiting this from working.. what should I be looking for if I were to go check it out? Would the only way I know if it would work is to actually install it?

Thanks bud. I normally scour Craigslist for all things Camry and have seen this guys ad up for months now but he hasn't relented at all when it came to the advertised price. Idk if he will be open to haggling at all but I will for sure try bargaining with him. He might just want to get rid of it at this point.

i have a better idea. the 2az-fe will mount and is found in the gen1.5 solara, thus the gen4 camry, thus the gen3. why not swap a 2az in there and have a stronger better motor for boost that you dont have to try to fit a supercharger on.
that being said, the demensions are about the same but mounting it will likely be very custom and you will still need most of the parts youd need for a turbo setup. tuning bits, piping, intercooler(if ya want one), fuel pump, injectors, and it would be smart to get a wide band AFR to keep an eyue on things.
