3rd Generation Engine balancer

Just put new connecting rod bearings in a 2.2, torqued down the rods and the Engine turns over. Installed the engine balancer with #1 TDC, the punch marks lined up, torqued down the balancer and the engine will not turn over by hand.
What am I missing?

Remove the balancer. They like to explode.

No. But if you buy a new engine, the machine shop will remove it and plug the holes to avoid having the engine explode.

4th Generation new rebuild

Question that seems to be pretty popular. i recently rebuilt my 5sfe and did not put the balance shafts in, however i also did not know to pug the oil passage either. i have now gone just over 500 miles for break in and only when the car is warm i hear a whrrring noise. I am going to plug the hole asap of course. Will my engine be ok is the question or did i smoke my head and everything already?

No idea. Just plug the holes as soon as you can and stop driving it until then.

Honestly I have no idea. I got it from the machinist already plugged up, and didn't pay much attention to it.
