3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
No issues with the hoses. Just trying to make sense of them all.
I couldn't find these on any parts diagrams.
They don't appear to be running into the engine.
They appear to be running down the firewall to the front axle.
I'll look closer tonight.
Chronoti says power steering.
73sport says one might be pcv and the other might be brake related ( I think).
I'll keep this in mind.
Thanks again guys.

Reason: mis-spelling
pcv is on the under side of the manifold, brake booster is on the backside on the aics plate.
the ps system uses a vacuum assisted system both hoses run in to a round silverish thing that runs down to the rack i believe it drives the high speed bypass

The Following User Says Thank You to chronoti For This Useful Post:
In the Gen 3 - 3.5 manual EG2.PDF pg 15, it shows (chronoti correct) upper hose from ACIS going to the brake booster via the firewall. It shows the lower hose near the ACIS going back to upper hose in the OP picture.
Page 27 looks to have something of two vaccum hoses going to the PS switch????
Disreguard my comments as IDK!
OP - your car electric or hydralic cooling fans?

I just checked. I do see the two hoses both entering the silverish ( i.e. chrome ) looking thing along the firewall. This chrome fitting is at the top of a chrome pipe. The pipe continues down to the axle location. The pipe also has a hose that branches off of it. I googled the part number of this hose and its description is "high pressure side power steering hose".
Thanks again.
I found a diagram of the two hoses going to the silverish thing on page 27.
It's actually called the Air Control Valve Assembly.
The two hoses are both called "Air Hose #3".
They get the air from the throttle body to be used in the power steering.

Reason: Adding diagram
FWIW: I looked under my hood last night. Mine is not the same as that. In your original photo you have that CAP pluging a line, Mine has a three way vaccum switch connecting those lines together. Not sure what it does tho!

if you have a hydraulic cooling system, then you will have those hoses
I never figured out why there are two of them since only one will suffice (I've been only running one since I installed my supercharger), and it's for the power steering idle up
