rear bumper

hey peeps,

ive got a 2000 camry and i would like to know how to remove the rear bumper. my mom accidentally backed into a pole and i got a new bumper and got it painted. i just need to know how to remove to the bumper.

Open the trunk. You'll see two black 10 mm bolts right on the insides of the taillights. There's three screws on the bottom of the bumper, usually rusted. And then 4 or 5 plastic clips on middle of the bumper, where the trunk closes.

Then comes the bitchy ones. You'll have to remove the plastic trim (as if you were changing a light bulb) and probably pull the carpet out a bit. In the spots behind the wheel wells, there are three bolts sticking out with nuts on them. 10 mm. Undo all six (three on both sides) and then the bumper should come right off.

Heads up. You got a new bumper COVER and got it painted. There's prolly underlying damage to the actual bumper (steel bar).

i will look into it after i remove the bumper and see if the bumper bar needs to replaced as well. i dont think it was that hard i popped our the corner myself using a bar by getting under the car (for a temp fix). But thanks for the heads up!

You can get painted bumper covers, foam "energy absorbers" , and the steel bar on eBay too.
