Differences in 5s blocks

Hey all, just wondering if anyone knew the differences between different gen 5S blocks. I heard/read that there was differences in water jacket locations between the older and newer blocks. Because someone is giving away a 5s but is a 93 and came out of a MR2. Does any one know if heads from any year 5s are interchangeable? IE 93 block 99 Head?

i dont see any diff in bore or stroke..... it both 5s's

i dont think you can swap the heads like that i can only say get the head gaskets and compare, but look at the 5s-ge threads those will explane more on the differences

all 5s bore and stroke are the same i know that there is a difference between water jacket location because gen 2 3sgte heads and some 5s blocks match up perfectly...then toyota changed up the water jacket locations

Any 5SFE cylinder heads bolt onto the 5sfe blocks and are interchangeable regardless of the water jacket locations and year.
If you're going to use a 5sfe head, use the 5S head gasket, if you're going to use a 3SGTE head, use a 3SGTE head gasket.

There are no difference in 5s block. i forgot who i heard it from, but the 98 camry 5s block was one of the best made. My coupe right now have a 98 camry 5s block with a 94 camry 5s head. I took it in for smog check, and it pass. Therefore, i believe there isnt anything different in the block.

That doesn't make sense when the block is the same
Unless the stroke or CR is different, there shouldn't be any change in performance, especially if it's a straight OEM to OEM swap.
The electronics that would be of any effect on the block would be the knock sensor. This is probably the only thing that will have any effect on the ECU, which on these blocks, you either have one or not. Therefore you don't need another ECU.
