strange noise when turning to the left after rebuild
92 camry, V6, 3FV. Just put her back together after fixing a bunch of leaks. Had the power steering belt off, altenator belt off. Didn't pull the crank pully off but every thing else on the timing belt side of the motor came off. Cars running well but when I turn to the left it makes a strange noise, sort of metal clicking sort of. Doesn't do it when turning to the right. Can't reproduce it in the drive way. Even jacked the car up and threw it into gear, no noise. I tightened up the power steering pump a bit, removed the plastic cover for the crankshaft and played with the altenator belt a bit, took it out and the noise was greatly reduced but still there if I hard crank it to the left as I'm driving it 5-10KM's. Any thoughts??

thanks, good point but after checking everything was tight but I did find a loose alt. bolt. Made sure everything was tight and went for a ride. Still only makes the noise when I turn left, almost a metal rubbing noise, more tiney than hard metal. Kind of sounds like the thin metal used as a heat protector covering the exhuast.
Ok, if it's a thin sheet metal scraping while moving instead of clicking/popping, then I'd check the disc brake dust shield. It may have been bent and can rub against the rotor during turns.
