3rd Generation Can a 94 2.2L Camry use a 96 distributor?

I just wanted to know if it's possible at all for a 1994 2.2L Camry to use a 1996 2.2L Camry's distributor, I read on Wikipedia that for 1996 model they use crankshaft position senor in the distributor instead of camshaft position senor for smoother idle.

"In 1996 the cam angle sensor in the distributor was also replaced with a crank angle sensor to achieve a smoother idle"

Because my Camry has that vibration problem (chasis, steering wheel) during idle (red lights, parked idling etc..) I was wondering if it is possible to use a distributor for the 96 model to reduce the vibration further. I have done the dog bone mount mod (changed it to the larger version used on 1997~2001 model) and with minor effect.

Timing belt, distributor have been changed quite recently, so the last thing to suspect would be the enegine mounts, and I doubt the previous owner bothered changing them.

Just in case it is the engine mounts, how much would it roughly cost in Canada to replace them? (excluding the dog bone mount).

Any reply would be much appreciated, thanks.

I believe it goes like this for the distributor:
6/1991 - 7/1993
8/1993 - 7/1995
8/1995 - 7/1996

Someone correct me if wrong, but I believe the answer to your question is no.

edit - to clarify, it's not impossible to do this, but would it be worth it? BTW, I don't see how a change to the ignition setup is going to do much for a smooth idle, Toyota added balance shafts later on to address the problem, I doubt a slightly different spark system will do a whole lot. I wonder if anyone has done this?

I also did the dog bone mod, I didn't see much if any improvement. The engine mounts, you should be able to find them online in Canada for about $110 each for the front and back. (probably not OEM)

Thank you for your clear answer, the Wikipedia did not mention about the added balance shaft, now that I know I think I won't try it.

With the age of the car, not sure if the total cost of replacing the engine mount is justified, I might let it stay this way, the vibration aren't mind blowing anyway, besides, I read some owner on here saying even after replacing the mounts, it still vibrates.
