Canada Low idle in warm weather/stall/steering

I have a 94 camry. It runs pretty well, except in the hot weather.
It seems to idle too low, and results in stalling, especially just after I start it up in the hot summer weather. I have noticed the steering can be kind of tough as well when it is idling low. The steering is fine once powered up and driving.

I have a feeling the alternator is not working properly, could this be the problem? It does work, but I notice power on the dashboard get darker and lighter depending on what accessories I am using. Its clearly not powering at 100%. Its been like this for a couple years though, and no idle problems.

I have been checking out this site, and some suggest bypassing the EGR?
Anyway, please help!

THANKS SO MUCH TO YOU ALL.

Clean the EGR valve's actuator's filter.

Check vacuum hoses.

If you really want to bypass it, test the valve first. Clean EGR valve and make sure it can stay in closed position.

If that is all good, then it is up to you whether to block it off or not.

The engine should idle around 750-900 on the tach in the dash with all accessories turned off. If it idles lower than 750, the idle stop is probably worn. It can be adjusted by using a small allen wrench and spanner. Look at the throttle linkage on the intake and operate it opened and closed (with the engine off). You will see a small adjustment screw where the throttle sits when its closed. adjust this screw in to increase the idle to 750-900 RPM on the tach (while all accessories are off, and the engine is warmed up and idling). Low idle speed will not turn the alternator fast enough for proper voltage output, thus the dimming of lights at idle, though a small dip is normal. The steering will also be heavier due to lower hydraulic pressure from the pump at low idle speeds. When you turn the steering all the way left or right till it brings up, the idle should increase to approx 1000 RPM. If it doesn't, check for a faulty power steering "idle-up" switch, or a sticking/faulty Idle Air Control valve on the intake. Hope this helps.

I would clean the throttle body, and in particular the idle air control valve, before doing anything else. Your problem may be a dirty idle air control valve. Here's a thread on how to do it:
