5-spd Swap P1780 code

Long shot but has anyone who has completed a 5spd swap on the 1mz found a solution to the P1780 neutral safety switch code? Finished my swap last year but still have this code and won't be able to pass NYS inspection. If anyone has a solution please chime in thanks!

quote from jon's transmission swap webpage:

the park/neutral switch wire must be cut at the ecu to prevent a CEL. its the smaller of the black with white stripe wires on the bottom plug of the ECU (pin 13 or 14, wichever is smaller).

hope this helps

Connect the black wire to the black with white stripe wire. This makes the ECU think the car is in park or neutral and allows the starter to operate. They should be connected to the clutch start switch, but this can be easier accomplished by accessing the wire under the dash.

i'm still learning on this so this is the best i can come up with!

There is no manual ecu for 1mz gen3. Wish there was so I wouldn't have this problem.

tru! and dont say gen 4 ecu because that will give the issue of the missing vsv by the fuel tank. and an issue with the maf sensor

i think with it hooked to the clutch might work better because the signal wount constantly be there but if you sit on the clutch too long it will throw the cel.

gonna have to bit the bullet and get a $50 rpm switch or a piggy back that can switch it

so basically hooking the wire to the clutch switch / cutting it at the ecu would still throw the code?

i plan on doing the swap at the end of july and i dont want any check engine... i thought i found how but now im not too sure...

i already know that i have to hook the 3 wires from the shift solenoids to 10ohm 20w resistors but now i'm confused for the park neutral sw...

You don't need the clutch switch. I completely bypassed it because the wiring harness was made for automatic, not manual.

Just find the starter wires and splice into it. Boom.

yes but you get the issue that the start safety switch is closed but it not picking up it being in park or neutral.

so if you dont need to check if your reverse lights work disconnect your reverse switch and then close the wire to neutral just for the test

also you cant leave the wire in neutral because it will throw a code if you put it in reverse ........ now i'm thinking dpdt switch where when thrown in reverse it will open the start and neutral switch ....... gonna take a bit of work

Ok you mean a mechanical switch that would open the neutral safety when in reverse... Could an electronic switch connected to the reverse sensor work? Using a relay on the sw input

Is this issue only occurring on the 96 ecu's? I don't recall ratko having any issues with this code. However eye8pussies has the same code what the hell!
