Question 96 Camry 2.2 stalls at stops

I have a chilton repair manual for the car and the only way to explain it is by part from the book. when i hook the vacuum line from the intake (standing at the driver side fender, this vacuum connects to the intake on the far right) to the VSV for EVAP the car idles rough and stalls at stops. When I have it unplugged is does not stall but idles rough. Any help, can someone explain the problem and explain what this VSV for EVAP does. Thanks

If it stalls when you start from stops, possibly now could be time to replace your spark plugs. Same issue with me and the new spark plugs did the trick.

i put new spark plugs in when I got the car 4 months ago, and i just put another set in because the oil was getting inside the spark plug chambers, i fixed that btw. if i plug the vacuum line with my finger the engine sounds like its gonna die even in park.

It controls the purge flow of the EVAP canister. It's normally closed, so if it's stuck open, the valve is allowing fuel vapors from the canister to enter the intake manifold unrestricted. The ECU compensates for that by reducing the injector pulse widths (O2 sensors report a rich condition). Obviously, the ECU can only reduce the pulse widths so much before it stalls.
