that may be lots of things, e.g. dirty IAC valve, dirty fuel filter, dirty injectors, weak fuel pump, dirty air filter, weak spark (either wires or plugs) etc...

No light on or anything... I just got the car about a month ago, bought it used. I haven't done anything to it but change the breaks in it today.
I will probably bring this to a mechanic or something for him to deal with, seeing there could be multiple problems... Sucks though he's going to want to keep the car for a few day's probably and I NEED my car to get to and from work... hmmmm what to do, what to do

clean the IAC hole as described in the DIY first. all you need is a can of Sea FOam Deep Creep from a local store, tooth brush and screwdrivers (and maybe 1/4'' drive metric socket set if you have it handy).

Oh geeze... The fuel filter. You're going to need a quality adjustable open-end wrench for the bottom fitting, and a socket wrench for the top of the filter. You need to remove the whole air filter assembly to access the fuel filter (which is under the air box). It's attached on the driver-side on the other side of the wheel. If this hasn't been changed in a while, it might be a PITA to get off. Just be careful not to bend the fuel line, as I did on my first attempt. The bottom fitting was the hardest part I believe as it was on there pretty damn tight. When you have either wrench ready to loosen the bolt, make sure you are able to hold the filter in place so it doesn't twist and turn, potentially risking a bent fuel line. This job is easier with a friend. Have him hold the filter in place. Good luck.

after removing the air cleaner box, it's an easy one person job actually if you use flare nut wrench for fuel line banjo (avoids stripping it) and regular supporting wrench on filter body "nut" so it gives you leverage (and avoids twisting the fuel line). it can be done with one hand in a scissor like move. you can spray those nuts and bolts with PB Blaster first if they have never been touched before, it should help getting them loose.

It's not a bad idea to change the fuel filter on your "new" older car, but I doubt that's your problem. Do what these guys recommend before playing with the fuel filter.
