98 4cyl - No AC, No Defrost, No Fan. Blown AC fuse

Hi all,

I recently went to turn my AC on and something is up:

-The AC/Defrost switches don't light up when pushed (so no AC or defrost)
-The fan doesn't blow on any setting

It seems like the whole HVAC unit lost power...I noticed the AC fuse in the cabin was blown so I replaced it. The AC/blower would then turn on for a split second and shut off. I rechecked the fuse and it was blown again.

Anyone know what could be going on?

hope this makes sense...thanks

Does the blower work with the A/C turned off?

When the blower did turn on, did it sound normal? Could be a binding blower motor causing excessive current and blowing the fuse.

Don't rule out a "critter" getting into the blower assembly.

Without a cabin filter, you'd be surprised at what can accumulate there.
