When is the last time you had a tuneup?

How about yer coolant temp sensor? Is it within the proper resistance range when it's cold?

Could be yer TPS is going bad...have it checked out.

Any vacuum leaks? How are those vacuum hoses looking (yes...all of them)?

How about yer air intake hose going up to the throttle body? Any cracks in that?

Shoot some vid of the problem and post it up.

Time to change your transmission fluid brother! I had the same problem on my Camry and on every cold start, their was a lag in shifting/lurch.

Is it from the trans shifting or is the engine, misfiring, hesitating? Theres Not enough info to say. . .

Hold it in low up to 20mph. Shift into 2nd at 34mph. Does that change it?

When held in low, does the tach bounce as it does when cold in D?

You have a 1MZ with MAF. The MAF said "six Banger, your getting X amount of AIR" but that hole in the hose let in MORE than the ECM knew about! A hole in the intake hose will F it up BAD!

Funny thing is it will idle fine, but too much torque from acceleration and the engine moves opening the crack up. Open the hood and power brake it in Drive. As soon as you apply gas the engine lifts, the CRACK OPENS and BLAH it falls on its face. Get a hose before you wreck the motor!

OK - back to the alternator. . . .

Fix that. Soon. Duct tape won't do.

Alternator:

What amperage does the camry alt have? Because I found a tundra alt with 130 amps that looks like it will bolt right up!

somewhere around 100-110 amps. Higher amperage is better. If it has the same connections and bolts-up, DO IT!

Uhm - - bone yard - Six bucks on the steep side. On the less bright side, if your motors blown up, you won't need an alternator!

I bought a car like that for 300 bucks once, the guy didn't know what was wrong with it. I filled it up with fresh gas, and a bottle of techron and it was fixed in about ten minutes of driving.
