Hello Fello Camry-ino's.
So I've got my amp and I've got the wiring kit, I'm just waiting for the adapter plates for the rear speakers and I'm going to be doing the installation of 4 new speakers and my JL 300/4 v2 Slash Amp into my 1995 LEV6. I am quite familiar with the wiring and all that, but in terms of mounting the amplifier I'd like to see what some people have done?
So far I have 4 places I see as possible but cannot decide.
1. Under the Seat:
Pro: Ease of installation, not hard to get at!
Con: I live in Canada and do a lot of snowboarding so chances for wet feet and big boots doing damage.
2. Hanger under rear deck in trunk:
Pro: Looks good, easy to get at, unique.
Con: Have to light trunk another way, difficult to mount, vibrations.
3. Top of rear deck between rear speakers:
Pro: Looks cool, easy to get at, easy to mount.
Con: Easy to see by potential thieves, if not mounted correctly HEAVY projectile in accident, heat on rear deck.
4. Attached to rear of 40 side of the 60/40 seat.
Pro: Not to hard to mount, hidden, easy to get at just flip seat forward.
Con: Snowboards resting on top of it, not sure how to bolt into seat.
If anyone happens to have some pictures lying around I'd love to see how you did any of these and what your happy/frustrated with about your installation. Thanks guys!

thats what i did.
if you got a small enough amp i dont think it would be a problem...
im happy with my install mainly because its easy access to the amp.
shorter wires. easy access. better than mounting in trunk area(easier to steal)..
i see if i can pics pf mine up later

all i know is when i do setup a system its all going in the trunk and i will disable all access. However there will be only one way to get to it and ill only know how. Ive had a $2000 system stolen from me when i was out doing alarm response and ill never forgive a thief who steals from others who dont make shit. Took me 3 months to get everything together only to have it stolen no more the 3 weeks later.
If you don't really use yer glove box...you could mount it in there.
I think that'd be great, but the amp's a little big for that. It's a JL 300/4v2 so it's about:
13.40 in. x 9.25 in. x 2.36 in.

Hey Man, No worries. Thieves should get a much harsher punishment in my opinion. I had an old Mazda truck I owned stolen and stripped of stereo equipment and it's really hard to get over. Knowing that you put all the time, effort, money, and thought into making something nice and someone else just comes around and takes it all for granted. Totally sucks! - If you mount amps in the trunk how you going to do it?
To mount the amp on the back of the rear seat, the easiest way is to secure a piece of MDF on the seatback. There is metal there, but it has lots of holes and your amp mounting holes might not line up correctly.
After installing the MDF, you can mount the amp to that using the regular mounting holes.

where stock amp is if the rain holds off long enough today i'll try and get some under seat pictures you could try and make a vented box (tupperware with air holes and a fan)

i would worry about heat the fabric might warm your amp up a little extra but in the winter you have 1 heated seat

this is what i did (sorry, no photos of it). it was easy to mount, does block the light slightly but not badly, and i dont think vibrations have been bad being i bought the amp in 1995 and installed it in the camry back in 2005 and continues to go strong. though i i think next time i would install it under the seat just to save the little bit of trunk space and it would be easier to run wires to.
Agreed!! i would want to set something like that up as well!
I know right! I'm hoping to install my amp tomorrow or the next day as my rear speaker adapters came in today, and I've been looking around like crazy for something that will function as a nice shelf. Still can't get pricing on the kind of shelves/drawers he used!
