4th Generation 97 frt left window not tracking properly

A couple of years ago, I started having problems with my drivers side front window not closing properly and actually not completly sealing at the rear top corner. That corner would sit on top of the seal squishing it a bit.

A few weeks ago, the front side of the window where it attaches to the regulator failed, breaking the small plastic piece that attaches to the track.

I ordered a brand new regulator from Ebay. After stupendously calling the dealer for a quote for the part.

I installed the new regulator without issue and the window goes up and down, but the front part of the window seems to lean down which leads it to not seal properly in the top rear portion again.

I lubed the tracks very well with liquid wrench, but after several cycles of up and down, it still won'ttrack properly. I have searched and found a few threads with the same issue, but no solutions in the ones i've found.

Thanks for all your help..

Long time lurker.

I have the exact same problem on my passenger front window. I haven't been able to find a solution either. I haven't replaced my regulator however, as it still operates the window fine, it's just off a little. If I pull the window towards the rear of the car slightly when rolling up it goes into place just fine. Is there a way to adjust the track possibly?

Same exact problem here as well. Tried a number of things. Cleaned the "glass run channels" as best I could. Sprayed inside channels with silicon spray. Cleaned glass. Loosened the front metal channels that holds the rubber glass run and tried to adjust. Loosened the regulator mounting bolts and tried to adjust regulator position in what little slop the pre-drilled holes allow (they allow a little movement). No matter what I tried, the glass would roll up fine until it reached about 3 inches from the top and then would begin to tilt down on the front side and the rear top would not be seated in the channel properly.

Finally resorted to drastic measure, which was basically to wallow out one of the pre-drilled regulator mounting holes (dremel tool) and mount the regulator with a slight tilt to it as needed to compensate for the "leaning" of the glass when it reached the top. Not an elegant solution, but so far it's doing the job.

Can give more details if requested.

Hm sounds interesting. I'd be willing to try it. Does putting the extra angle on it cause it to rub too harshly before the top where it begins to tilt? Mine does the same, at about 3 inches or so from the top but runs fine the rest of the way. I don't want to put too much stress on it and burn out the motor.

I'd bet both of your cars have been in wrecks. Mine was off after the previous owner had wrecked it. I tried EVERYTHING to fix it. New regulator, new window rubber, adding spacers, everything. The only way to fix it is going to be a replacement door if it's severely messed up.

Mine doesn't seem to be binding or rubbing harshly on the lower section that I can tell. If anything, I think it strains a tiny bit more when it reaches the upper section where it used to pop out, but it probably wouldn't be noticeable to me if I didn't otherwise know how it had been "rigged".

I do worry that it may lead to premature motor wear and/or regulator failure, but I was willing to take the chance because I hate having the window not closing all the way and I get annoyed at having to put my hands all over the glass trying to help it go up properly, especially if the reason you're trying to get it up is a sudden rainstorm.

I took a couple pics while I was in there. I'll have to wait to post them from home.
